1995 PARADE GRAND MARSHAL

David F. Roderick, Jr.
Mayor, City of Newport

David F. Roderick, Jr. has server on the Council since 1979 until 1985, as the 1 st Ward Councilman. After a 2 year hiatus, he was elected in 1987 as a Councilman at Large, in which role he has served since. In January of 1994, he was elected mayor. David has thus far dedicated 14 years of his life to serving the citizens of Newport

.

A staunch member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, David is also a member of the Irish Heritage Committee, as well as of the Newport County Branch of the N.A.A.C.P. He is a Life Member of the U.S. Jaycees International Senate and also a member of the Board of Directors of the Henderson Home, the Edward King Senior Center, the Newport Public Library, and for years was a member of the Library Building Committee.

Married to the former Marilyn Groff, he and his wife have three children; Michael, Charles, and Kerry.

Educated locally, David graduated form Rogers High School, attended the Plus School of Business and Rhode Island Community College. As a holder of an Associates Degree in Business Administration, he works as a Management Analyst and Inspection Liaison Program Manager at the Naval Underseas Warfare Center in Newport.

We have chosen David as Grand Marshal of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade for his interest and his caring for the City of Newport and all of its citizens.
